Chris Morgan is writing his way into the league of wordsmiths. His debut project, ‘Twenty One Four’, delivers an array of sounds and styles.
The 12-track debut album has a modern and contemporary feel, featuring vocals by Saul on ‘All About You’, Stupet Jones on ‘Need Me’, Denilou the Singer on ‘Golden Rose’ and production by DJ Chronics, Zack, Channo and DJ Pother.
Morgan weaves his life experiences into the fabric of his work. The album is an ode to the beginning of his career as a musician, but also a letter to the brother he lost.
“The title refers to the year 2014, when my brother passed away. It’s scary how you can lose someone close to you in the blink of an eye, so I want to keep him alive through my music.”
A notable track on the album is ‘Boys In The Trap’, which is fun and upbeat – the perfect Friday night house party anthem.
Morgan showcases his diversity with ‘Golden Rose’ and ‘Lombwelenge’, which sees him leaning towards his gentler side.
His raw and unfiltered approach to sharing intimate anecdotes and ability to switch moods will take the listener through a variety of emotions.
It would be nice to see Morgan pushing his work more through live performances and TV interviews.
His personal style matches the hip-hop culture well and helps him stand out as a star.
