ALLOW me to express myself on behalf of the Namibian women and children and the deeds done to them on a daily basis.Women and children have to continue living in fear in the same communities facing their attackers with the constant pain in their daily lives. I lost my two beloved sisters in a brutal killing on the 09 May 2009, and the loss of my two young sisters lives as well as economically active people who could contribute immensely to the economic growth and development of our country, left me and my family heartsore. It’s indeed a sad tale in a country where we are fighting hard for the protection of our women and children, but yet no improvement. I and my family, including the whole community as well as the country at large are deeply shocked by the deeds committed in our communities. The man who killed my sisters was a boyfriend to one of my sisters, and he used to abuse, humiliate her physically and emotionally and beat at the same time. Our law must really tighten its belt and give stiffer sentences to those perpetrators with immediate effects. Today my family is living in the pain but tomorrow it is another family, such murderers don’t belong among us, and of course they tarnish the image of our community as well as our country, because they engage in such brutal killing without any mercy.Namibian lawmakers why is it that a man kills today and he go behind bars for only plus/minus two months and then will to be set free on bail? Now these men roam around in the streets while the family of the deceased is still in constant pain over the lost of their beloved daughter, sister, mother etc, what are the Namibian Government and lawmakers of this beloved country doing? I think it’s about time that our Government heightens awareness of what has happened and to provide safety to the innocent ones, especially women and children.Last but not least we (the deceased family, friends and community at large) would like to thank the Mariental Police for the job done well. Please keep it up by helping the community steadily. Robert YaAndreasArandis
