KAUA.I., the artificial intelligence (AI) driven coffee bot, provides instant answers to questions about coffee, brewing methods and the unique qualities of Kauai coffee.

For example, if you want to know the difference between a cappuccino and a flat white, you can ask KAUA.I. on the Kauai app or website and instantly learn: “A cappuccino is a single shot of espresso with steamed milk and topped with foam. A flat white is a double shot of espresso, creamier and made with steamed milk.”

If customers cannot make up their minds about what they would like to drink, KAUA.I. will recommend their coffee order for the day.

Kauai Information Technology director Ankit Shah says this is the next natural step in enhancing their customer experience through tech.

Leveraging the power of AI, KAUA.I. empowers customers to engage more deeply in a way that is enjoyable and convenient.

“It’s all about brewing a perfect blend of technology and tradition, one cup at a time. We are excited to share this new chapter in our tech journey with our customers and look forward to seeing how KAUA.I. enhances their love for coffee,” he says.

The development of KAUAI.I. is one of Kauai’s ways to constantly improve the customer experience by providing more interactive and engaging customer interactions. While the initial focus is on coffee-related queries, Shah explains that there are ambitious plans to expand its scope in the future.

“In the future, KAUA.I. could engage customers in conversations about wellness, nutrition and other product-related areas.
“It has the potential to become a personal nutritionist, assisting our customers in their transformation and sustainability journeys,” he says.

At the heart of this coffee innovation, is also Kauai’s exclusive signature blend, a testament to Kauai’s commitment to quality and ethical sourcing.

This ‘medium-bodied’ blend has the perfect balance of South American and African coffee beans from farms in Honduras, Ethiopia and Colombia.
