Boxing board clears Faith Foundation’s Oshakati fight night after licensing hiccup

The Namibia Professional Boxing and Wrestling Control Board (NPBWCB) has formally sanctioned the boxing bonanza associated with Faith Foundation.

The tournament is scheduled for 14 June at Oskati Independence Stadium.

Earlier this week, the boxing board warned Faith Foundation not to proceed with hosting the event, because due procedures were not followed.

The NPBWCB in a statement on Friday clarified recent public communication on the promotion and sanctioning of the upcoming boxing tournament scheduled to take place under a title associated with Faith Foundation.

“Following the board’s review of the application submitted, it is confirmed that the event has only now been formally sanctioned by the board, and that the licensed promoter of the event is HS Onkugo Promotions, in accordance with the Boxing Act of 1980.

“Faith Foundation is not the licensed promoter of this event and has no legal standing to organise, promote, or manage any boxing tournament without a valid licence issued by the board,” the statement reads.

It says the approval was granted after careful consideration of the legal requirements, including licensing, medical preparedness, safety compliance, and all regulatory obligations as prescribed by law.

“The board reaffirms its commitment to upholding the integrity and legality of all boxing activities in Namibia and reminds the public that only events sanctioned by the NBCB and promoted by licensed individuals or entities may lawfully proceed.”

The boxing bonanza will feature Da Silva against Mashaba, while a tight fistfight is billed on the night between Harry Simon and Paulus ‘Ninja’ Shimweefeleni.

The event starts at 18h00
