NEWLY appointed technical director Seth Boois says youth development in Namibian football will take centre stage in his duties as soon as he takes up office at Soccer House next week.

Boois was officially named as the man who will be responsible for developing the game on all levels after a delay of almost two years since the position was advertised. Boois has been contracted for the next three years and will be judged on his performance to stay in charge after that period. In his brief address at Soccer House yesterday, he said he would also develop technical structures and policies of the game in general, while not forgetting the plight of the referees. He said he would co-ordinate coaching courses for referees and coaches, as well as women’s football, and he would also be the middleman in all the activities of the national teams.”The overall aim is to review and implement the NFA’s Strategic Plan, which has been developed with the assistance of Fifa,” he said.Boois was one of two candidates who applied for the position, Ronnie Kanalelo being the other.Yesterday’s appointment came six months after the two were short-listed and interviewed.Boois said he planned to prepare a team to compete in the 2010 World Cup qualifying rounds. At the same occasion, NFA president Petrus Damaseb said Fifa officials, who would be paying regular visits to Namibia from now on, would monitor Boois’s progress as technical director.Boois will be paid by Fifa, but the size of his salary has not been made known.Boois has been contracted for the next three years and will be judged on his performance to stay in charge after that period. At the same occasion, NFA president Petrus Damaseb said Fifa officials, who would be paying regular visits to Namibia from now on, would monitor Boois’s progress as technical director.Boois will be paid by Fifa, but the size of his salary has not been made known.
