Big Brother Africa 4: Kristal Leaves The Revolution

Big Brother Africa 4: Kristal Leaves The Revolution

RIGHT from the beginning of the revolution, she said she hated liars and backstabbers. On entering the BBA house however, she was subjected to alliances, in some cases liars and backstabbers: Quinn is a case in point in this regard for what he did to his countrywoman Liz.

Well, not that Kristal was a saint herself, I mean one would swear that she and Emma shared a boyfriend in some past life by the way they struggled to get along. It just goes to show that you cannot have your cake and eat it. Now the 26-year-old ambulance technician is looking forward to going back to Zimbabwe where both her studies and boyfriend Jonathan, or ‘Jono’ as we have come to know him during her stay in the house, awaits her. The Namibian caught up with Kristal yesterday. What will you miss most about the house?Edward. I love Eddy, he’s such a nice guy. I mean up to the time when I left, Edward and I were very close. If anything, I think I am mostly going to miss the people in the house, especially Mzamo and Edward. What I like about Edward is his character, he is such a free spirit, he’s his own person and doesn’t really care what people say. Both him and his brother, their mother brought them up very well. Does that mean you will be visiting Namibia sometime in the future? Most definitely, I would like to meet the guys again, and of course Rene. Visiting Namibia is definitely in my future plans.Have you recovered your iPod?No, I haven’t recovered it yet. I spoke to a Big Brother representative when I came out of the house and they said they are still looking into it. I don’t know what to think anymore because of all the pranks that went on inside the house, but I’m hoping it’s none of the people in the house. For now I will leave it up to Big Brother to look into it.What did you think of all the alliances in the house?Well, I think you needed to have alliances in the house. It just felt safer when you had an alliance. I wouldn’t say I had an alliance in the house though. I was just trying to get along with everyone and did what I had to get along. You were quite confident that you would not be evicted this week. Do you think you were perhaps over-confident?I did know that I was going to be evicted actually. Regarding the comments, that was just me trying to stay positive, but the bottom line is that I knew and I had a feeling that I was going to go. It didn’t even come as a surprise when it was announced that Quinn and I were the ones to leave. Why do you think more viewers did not vote to keep you and Quinn in the house?I don’t know, honestly I don’t know what impact Quinn and I had on the African viewers. All viewers have their reasons for voting or not voting for us but I don’t blame anyone for not voting though. You spoke about you fiancé Jono so much, he was almost one of the house-mates. Have you seen or spoken to him since being evicted?Yes, last night (Sunday night) when I came out of the house. He was about to come to South Africa with my family on eviction night but he and my sister were confident I wasn’t going to come out. Jono is short for Jonathan. What makes Jono so special?Everything about him. There’s no one particular thing, it’s just everything. He is everything I have ever looked for in a man. You know as women we can understand when we say I have been praying for that man, and in my case, God answered my prayer.Without prejudice, who do you think is the sexiest male BBA housemate this year?Honestly I wouldn’t say there was one I would say was the sexiest because to me it takes more than just looks to be sexy. When I look for a man, other than looks I also look at the person’s personality, intelligence level, the way you dress and most of the guys in the house had one or two of these factors but not all of them. For me, none of them had the full package to qualify as the sexiest, but of course they are all unique in their own ways. The ones that come at least close to that are the twins, Black Vanilla (Erastus) and Black Polar Bear (Edward) Were you aware of the fact that Yacob had a huge crush on you?I was aware that he had a crush on me, but I am only finding out now that it was huge. However, there was not a lot I could do about it because I told him that we could only stay friends, and I hope we will stay friends as long as he knows that it can never be more than that.If you were single, would you have given him a chance? The honest and short answer to that is no… he doesn’t have the full package that I am looking for in a man, but he is a really nice man. There could never be anything romantic between me and him, but definitely friendship.About a week ago you had a bit of a moment, almost like a breakdown. Was the stress of nomination and eviction starting to get to you?Yes, actually it was a combination of everything, the eviction, nomination, and kind of being away from your family. It was just everything that I had been keeping inside and it just kind of came out. I mean, I am not happy it happened but there is nothing I can do about it now. What happened has happened. How would you describe your relationship with Angola’s Emma? Did you two get along very well?To be honest, we did not get along very well. When it comes to her, I wouldn’t say she was my friend and I wouldn’t say she was my enemy either. We had learned to tolerate each other because we were living in the same house. Honestly from my side, I saw a personality in her that I do not look for in a friend and in life you will meet people like that. You will not get along with everyone, besides, I did not go into the house to make friends so it’s fine. What do you think of Itai, your fellow countryman? He can go far if he just stays loyal because I believe the time has come now in the game where one has to show where your loyalty lies. He is a strong candidate and I think if he stays loyal he can go far.Who do you think is going to win?I honestly think that it’s either Kevin or Edward because they are both strong candidates. Both have been up for eviction before and both have survived it. But I would love for Edward to win. What now for Kristal, where to from here?Right now I don’t really have any plans, I will just see what opportunities will come my way or what doors possibly open for me from here on. If nothing comes up then I will just go back to my old life because after all I did not come to BBA for fame or anything. I am currently studying paramedics thus if nothing has come up I will just go back to my Jonathan and my paramedics life.* Please remember that our deadline falls before eviction and nomination time. You can watch Big Brother Africa 24 hours a day on DStv channel 198. The daily show, live nominations and eviction shows will be broadcast on M-Net Africa (DStv channel 102). Africa Magic (DStv channel 107) will broadcast all repeats.
