Big Brother Africa 4: Farewell Edna

Big Brother Africa 4: Farewell Edna

THERE is a time and a season for everything. A time to come and a time to go. Sunday was the unfortunate time and season for Angolan female housemate Edna Alfredo to leave the Big Brother house, along with Zambian housemate Maggie.

I guess Edna, who describes herself as friendly, caring, forgiving and funny, now just has to forgive all the viewers, especially the ones from her home country, who did not do enough to keep her in the house. The 27-year-old is the oldest of four children and says her role model is Angelina Jolie because of the celeb’s strong personality and character. The Namibian spoke to Edna yesterday and asked her about how she sees her way forward.Edna, were you surprised to be among the first females to leave the house? No, I was actually not surprised. I don’t know exactly why but I kind of knew it was coming perhaps because of my poor English. But I can confidently say that it was no surprise at all.If you had the chance to go back into the house, would you change anything, for example would you backstab, conspire or connive? No, I wouldn’t change anything at all. What would you say is the best experience you are taking away from the Big Brother Revolution?Having met and shared a house with all the girls from the different countries is one of the best experiences. I guess having survived a week in the house is also another experience because we all came from different backgrounds and had to accept each other for who we are and where we came from. What was the highlight of your stay in the Big Brother house?I don’t have any specific one; rather I would say my whole stay in the house was a highlight from the very beginning up to the time I left the house. If there were guys in the house, do you think you would have stayed longer?Yes, maybe I would have. I believe that it was different with the girls, because in the first place I enjoy the company of guys and like to talk to guys more than girls. It would have definitely been different.Would you say there was a bit of pretending from your side during your stay in the house or where you completely yourself the whole time?I was a hundred per cent myself the whole time. It was easy for me to be myself the whole time because I had prepared myself beforehand for all the cameras and everything that comes with being a Big Brother housemate. I was even the first one to take a shower when we entered the house [without a bathing suit]. Did you have a strategy when you entered the house? No, I was just being myself.Where to from here? What are you going to do next now that you are out of the house?Right now I am going back home and I hope my brief stay and all the publicity in the Big Brother house will have opened doors for me or at least that some doors will open soon. I was working as an assistant at a petroleum company before Big Brother and I had to quit that job because when I found out I was chosen for Big Brother, I asked for three months’ unpaid leave but the company refused.* Tune in to DStv Channel 198 or 199 to catch the action live 24/7, or watch the daily highlights show on M-Net (DStv Channel 101/102) and AfricaMagic (DStv Channel 114) every day at 18h30. Weekly highlights will also be aired on NBC, every Saturday from 21h15 – 22h15.
