Baster community mourns McNab

THE Rehoboth Bastervolk are in mourning following the death of their kaptein, John McNab.

McNab died last Saturday at his home in Rehoboth after a short illness.

He was 82 years old.

The kaptein’s death was confirmed by his son Roche McNab on Tuesday.

The late kaptein was the Bastervolk leader for 21 years up to his death.

The Bastervolk elected McNab their leader in 1998 after the death of his predecessor Hans Diergraardt.

He is survived by his wife, four children, and grandchildren.

Roche described his father as humanitarian leader, and would be remembered as a leader who had worked tirelessly in promoting the welfare of the Bastervolk.

Former Baster Council member, Manfred Draghoender, said the late McNab was a humble leader, who had always treated people with dignity and respect.
