Bank Windhoek has introduced a digital procurement platform that will allow suppliers to register their businesses, update company information and access procurement opportunities online.
Bank Windhoek says it is the first fully Namibian-owned entity to implement SAP Ariba in Namibia. The platform connects buyers and suppliers through a global network used in 190 countries.
The platform, powered by SAP Ariba, will be used to manage sourcing activities, including requests for quotations, formal tenders and reverse auctions.
Bank Windhoek financial director Zenaune Kamberipa says the platform is intended to improve access to procurement opportunities and communication between the bank and its suppliers.
“We are excited to provide suppliers with a modern platform that enhances visibility, strengthens engagement and supports inclusive participation in our procurement activities,” Kamberipa says.
The system allows suppliers to create and maintain their own profiles, making their business information available to the bank when procurement opportunities arise.
The bank is encouraging small and medium-sized enterprises and other local businesses to register on the platform through its revamped procurement webpage.
However, registration does not guarantee that a business will be invited to participate in a tender or be awarded a contract.
All new supplier profiles must be approved by the bank, while access to procurement opportunities will depend on its procurement procedures and invitation criteria.
Suppliers may also be able to view sourcing opportunities from other potential customers on the SAP Business Network, depending on their profile settings and permissions.
