Bank Windhoek has become the first bank in Namibia to launch a wallet-to-wallet money transfer service, including for people without bank accounts.
Announced on Wednesday, EasyWallet On-Send allows people to send money sent their Bank Windhoek EasyWallet account on to another EasyWallet user.
Bank Windhoek managing director James Chapman says customers can send up to N$2 000 per day and perform multiple transactions daily.
“This new feature demonstrates our commitment to financial inclusion, innovation and secure, instant payments,” said Chapman.
He added that the bank plans to review and possibly increase this limit in the future based on customer needs.
Currently the option is only available to MTC mobile users and will soon be extended to TN Mobile customers, said Chapman.
