WHEREVER one goes to, there’s a MAN or Volkswagen truck driving somewhere, busy loading or offloading something.
The more you think about it, the more you realise that these two names have over time become a popular standard within the commercial sector.
Windhoek Autohaus officially opened the division in April 2010, following their appointment as the national agent for both MAN and Volkswagen trucks and buses. Autohaus Truck & Bus (AT&B) incorporated the complete truck and bus range of products available from both MAN and Volkswagen (VW).
Hard work and constant improvement over the years ensured the stability and popularity which the division enjoys today. In September 2015, the massive new premises in Birmingham Street were officially inaugurated, and they implemented the bigger, better service centre. Even the original MAN parts section was upgraded, improving stock variety and quantities, thus improving after-sales in general.
This constantly growing division is spearheaded by a forceful trio, driven by passion for both the industry and the brands. At the tip of the spear is Johan Steenkamp (dealer principal), involved in the commercial sector for the past 17 years, originating from after-sales. His extensive technical knowledge of trucks and buses, clear understanding of the workshop or parts structures and “no-nonsense” attitude, all account for the successful growth currently experienced.
The second part of the trio is Gert du Preez, head of sales. Du Preez has been in commercial vehicle sales for 17 years, with a clear understanding of the industry. As head of sales, he ensures that the correct equipment is allocated for the required application. It’s exactly this long-term experience that makes him invaluable to sales, being able to assess the exact needs of each client. Du Preez has also been with AT&B from day one, and has endured all the ups and downs that come with any new venture.
Third is Frik van Wyk, the new head of after-sales. Van Wyk originally hails from earthmoving equipment, with almost 20 years experience in the sector, but has been involved with commercial vehicles for the past six years. Van Wyk has an iron hand, and is service-driven. Together with his workshop team, they maintain and support the entire Man/VW fleet within the Namibian territory. With the combined knowledge between these three, it’s easy to see why AT&B has been growing and improving at a constant pace.
Both the MAN and Volkswagen brands are internationally renowned for high-quality products, catering for a vast range of applications. From normal delivery commuting up to luxury long-haulage vehicles, they cater for it all. Whilst the VW range of trucks cater for a smaller, more affordable range of products, the MAN brand is better known for industrial workhorses. All of the products are backed with strong factory warranties, and nationwide 24/7 roadside assistance is available at all times.
Autohaus Truck & Bus now embarks on a new journey. A new campaign named “We’re with you all the way” has just kicked off, and it brings forth a completely new approach to customer service for 2017. With renewed expertise in the service, sales and marketing departments, the newcomers now became a real competitive force on the Namibian market.
