Arrows boosted by Minolta

Arrows boosted by Minolta

KONICA Minolta unveiled the new playing kits for coastal side Eleven Arrows, after previously injecting a massive N$150 000 into the premiership club for the 2005/2006 football season Despite going down in its first league match at the weekend, Arrows is one of the few teams in the league that enjoys the benefits of a sponsor, in this case Konica Minolta which has committed itself to stand by them for the rest of the season.

According to the financial manager at Konica Minolta, Gabriel Tjombe, the company has decided to reinvest profits in the community of Namibia. “We thought long about getting involved in football like our parent company in South Africa.Unfortunately, there is already a consortium of sponsors to the Namibia Football Association (NFA) and subsequent to the leagues. Therefore, we looked at the club level cause we have been already involved at the grassroots level,” he said.He said by sponsoring the team, they could establish a good partnership because the company also has an office at Walvis Bay.”We have an office there and because the fishing industry is dictating the economy there, we thought it might give a moral boost to both the Walvis Bay economy and Eleven Arrows,” he said.He said the N$150 000 sponsorship is a one-year contract which can be renewed depending on the performance of the club in the premier league. The team received two sets of playing kits for home and away matches, tracksuits, tog bags and T-shirts displaying the logo of the company.Arrows will this weekend be tested to the limit when they face Orlando Pirates in the FNB Cup at Walvis Bay on Saturday.Arrows lost out in the semi-finals of the Humphries Security Cup two weekends ago against Blue Waters, with the defeat last weekend being the second by their coastal foes. The team has acquired several players such as Rodney Doeseb, who came in from Chief Santos.”We thought long about getting involved in football like our parent company in South Africa.Unfortunately, there is already a consortium of sponsors to the Namibia Football Association (NFA) and subsequent to the leagues. The team has acquired several players such as Rodney Doeseb, who came in from Chief Santos.
