The Minderoo Foundation, in collaboration with the Ministry of Gender Equality, Poverty Eradication and Social Welfare, Development Workshop Namibia, and Waka Waka Moo, is set to launch a groundbreaking mobile application, called ‘Thrive by Five’.
The app aims to support parents, caregivers, and educators in enhancing early childhood development by providing valuable resources and guidance.
‘Thrive by Five’ is now available for download on both App Store and Play Store.
“The app assists parents, caregivers, and teachers with fun activities, but most importantly, these activities will help them to learn how to connect, talk, as well as play with children in their care.
“This is parenting made fun while building a healthy relationship with your children,” says Kalistu Mukoroli, ‘Thrive by Five’ spokesperson.
The app combines the latest scientific research on parenting with engaging and user-friendly local activities parents and their children can enjoy together.
By offering a diverse range of activities suitable for various settings, ‘Thrive by Five’ ensures everyone involved in a child’s life can participate in their growth and development.
Parents, caregivers, and teachers can choose from a plethora of engaging local activities.
Additionally, the app emphasises the development of healthy habits within the home environment, and aims to foster a strong sense of community and identity.
To introduce the ‘Thrive by Five’ app to the public, a comprehensive roadshow has been planned. This roadshow will travel to the towns of Opuwo, Sesfontein, Otjiwarongo and Tsumkwe during this month, enabling teachers, parents, and caregivers to gain firsthand experience of the app’s features and functionalities.
During the roadshow, attendees will have the opportunity to interact with representatives from the social welfare ministry, Development Workshop Namibia, and Waka Waka Moo.
They will provide demonstrations and offer insights into the app.
By harnessing the power of technology, the ‘Thrive by Five’ app aims to empower parents, caregivers, and educators with the knowledge and tools necessary to provide the best possible start for children.
