Apokrypto Brings Art to the People

Today, at the HTS Bau in the Northern Industrial Area, you can also expect to see DJs such as Melkies, DJ Kiki, Draadloos and others, who will be keeping the vibe alive from 18h00 till the next morning.

The first 20 people to buy tickets will even get to join in on the action and paint alongside the maverick. The organisers call him a hunter of moods, metaphors, and esoteric realms.

“His technique is a ritual that embodies abstract and realistic styles as he interprets culture, people, and the dancing universe,” says Nduviro Kangueehi.

“The art will be created in real time on 15 canvases measuring roughly 2m x 1m utilising UV reflective paint as well as UV lighting.”

According to the team, the event theme is centred around the concept of 'Apokrypto', which refers to something that is hidden from view.

They say they consider themselves stewards of hidden meanings, and that the artist, guest painters and audience will collaborate and interact in a way that allows them to jointly create the event's art.

There is seriously something enchanting about watching an artist at work, and it can be mesmerising to be able to witness and absorb their process and grow to understand the method behind the madness.

At your regular raves you get to see DJs do their thing on the decks, or singers belt out the music, but with 'Apokrypto', you will get to be a part of this highly talented artist's path to creating stunning artworks right in front of your eyes, while you enjoy the music.

This is not Malua's first bout at live painting, and his name is quickly becoming synonymous with spicing up parties and events with his eclectic style and flamboyant artistry.

It will be exciting to see what he is able to conjure up this weekend.

Tickets are available for N$150 at the Biltong Shop in Maerua Mall, or digitally at 081 652 6214.
