WHY Is The Namibian so openly anti-Swapo? Whenever someone does something silly in their private capacity the paper will always try to affiliate them with Swapo whether it’s done through the one picture out of a hundred of him/her wearing Swapo colours or through emotionally disturbing headlines.
A case in point is [last] week’s headline, ‘Swapo closes school’. Can the editor tell me which politburo member or CC member or even youth league member was there or instigated the closure of the school. Would it not have been more accurate to say that community members at the village have closed the school? Can the paper prove that all those parents were Swapo members? What if they belonged to one of the other opposition groups and did not like Hidipo Hamutenya? How can the journalist simply state that they were Swapo members? Is he a mind reader or did he place cameras in the voting booth and monitor the whereabouts of those who voted Swapo just in case a story like this came up?Additionally, with all the yo-yo politics of the opposition: In today, gone tomorrow and back again on Tuesday, not a single cartoon has been drawn by Dudley to mock the shenanigans. Are things only funny when they happen to Swapo? In fact, I can say that I have never seen a negative RDP cartoon in any edition of The Namibian. I would therefore like to ask the paper to stop with its brainwashing campaign against the ruling party and to actually ‘tell it like it is’ with no bias to any party.JimNote: Surely, all news media could not have had a ‘brainwashing’ agenda in stating that Swapo members took the action, could they? Perhaps Swapo should show that those were not its supporters. -Editor
