All Roads Lead To … Farmhouse Deli

They say breakfast is the most important meal of the day and at Farmhouse Deli, it’s also the most decadent.

With its stress-melting sea views, rustic charm and fabulous service (thanks, Jelinda!), my advice for this Swakopmund gem is fourfold: Order the buffet, come hungry, wear loose-fitting clothing and plan to spend the rest of your life.

That last bit is so you can eat in instalments, gradually munching your way through this foodie wonderland in between sips of Slowtown or a sneaky mimosa.

As for me, seafood starved Windhoek dweller that I am, I make a beeline for the salmon. Salmon terrine and smoked salmon piled high at a charcuterie station teasing game pastrami, pate and all the stinky cheese and preserves you deserve.

Mouths less prone to drooling over seafood, however, may be impressed by the various ways one can eat yoghurt – in smoothies, acai bowls or just creamy delicious below a splash of berry compote.

Offering muesli, assorted fruit and fresh juices for the health conscious while those throwing diet to the wind may indulge in everything from breakfast pizza, bacon, sausage, eggs however you want them, assorted breads, cakes, croissants, muffins and more, Farmhouse Deli also beguiles a la carte. Think egg white omelettes with Swakop River mushrooms, rocket and mozzarella, salmon benedict, grilled breakfast oysters and white chocolate caffe lattes. A breakfast must as a treat, tradition or an inquiry into just how much you can throw down your neck, Farmhouse Deli’s buffet is simply everything you want in a jolly good morning.

Farmhouse Deli is situated on the Mole at Swakopmund and is open for breakfast from 06h00 to 11h00 and for lunch and dinner from 12h00 to 21h00.
