Actress Sets Sight on International Stage

The second-prize winner of the prestigious National Theatre of Namibia (NTN) First Monologue Competition says she wants to use her talent to fulfil her potential on an international stage, and accomplish more incredible heights, which will inspire others.

“I would love to work with professional filmmakers on legitimate and funded projects, such as action, drama and suspense or thriller short films, and national and international movies,” says Precious.

Her prize-winning monologue, ‘Murder She Wrote’, which she wrote and featured in 2018, explored fictional psychological elements.

“As a young actress winning that prize, I still feel extremely honoured and thrilled to have my talent, hard work and creativity uplifted and honoured on such a prestigious level.

“My performance received a thunderous round of applause from the audience, and I gained a few fans. The judges were in awe of my performance when I initially auditioned for it.”

Currently, Precious has been performing mini-acting stories, reels, and other acting content on TikTok and Instagram.

Talking about her inspiration, she says it started when she was very young.

“I used to love watching films and re-enacting certain scenes. I’d read or told stories with unintentional dramatic expressions, which many people found entertaining,” she says.

The ability to bring a character and story to life through acting fascinated her and drove her into the world of acting and entertaining her friends.

“When I went to university, I didn’t have the opportunity to study acting. So, I spent time with film students, learning and observing. I was then asked to do an acting job on a small student project, where I had to create a film on cybercrime awareness. A film student helped me by producing and directing, as I acted.”

Ever since, Precious says she has been focusing on creating short comedy sketches for her social media platforms.

“I had to focus on other areas of my life for a few years, but now my main focus is acting.”

Her current challenge is finding local acting jobs for short films with a budget to pay actors.

“After contributing large amounts of my time, effort, and talent on previous acting projects, where there was either very little or no payment, I’m no longer able to accept acting jobs that don’t pay,” she says.

She says she will continue to work hard on her craft through regular practice and continuous learning from international acting coaches online.
