About 25% of professionals use AI to write emails

Artificial intelligence (AI) tools are becoming a part of the daily life of working professionals, with 25% using AI to support their writing.

This includes email drafting, storytelling, proposal development and brainstorming.
A report by Efficient Activity titled ‘How Professionals Use AI in 2025’ shows how different roles and experience levels interact with AI.

“Writing tools appeal to creative and emerging users; around 25% use AI to support writing.

For many professionals, especially those in emerging or agile roles, AI functions as a co-writer or thought partner, helping overcome blank-page syndrome and boosting clarity,” says the report.

According to the report, approximately 67% of professionals use AI primarily to search for information.

This includes looking up facts, clarifying unfamiliar terms, summarising complex documents or verifying sources.

“AI’s ability to surface relevant insights quickly, often in natural language, offers major efficiency gains in both strategic and day-to-day decision-making,” says the report.

The least used AI tool was visual creation with only 8% of professionals using it.

This feature allows people to generate visuals such as diagrams, illustrations or presentations.

“Despite the advanced capabilities available, adoption here remains limited.

Potential barriers include lack of training, uncertainty about creative quality or the perception that visuals are secondary to written content,” says the report.

The report shows that working experience influences the use of AI.

Emerging professionals show a higher inclination towards writing tools, often using AI to refine their voice or test new ideas while mid-career professionals reflected balanced usage, integrating both search and writing.

Meanwhile, senior professionals use AI for clear communication and decision support, while younger users often used it for creativity.

“While search remains the dominant function, writing and visual generation are steadily gaining ground, particularly among those with creative or communication-focused roles.

What’s clear is that AI has matured into a versatile tool: one that adapts to user preferences, enables new forms of productivity and continues to shape professional standards,” says the report.
