THERE were two errors in our Wednesday’s edition in a report on page 5 headlined ‘Child labour prevalent in agricultural sector’.
The sentence that read: “According to the latest figures recorded for the country in a 1999 study, 72 000 children out of 450 000 between the ages of 16 and 18 were either working or were available for work countryside” should have referred to children between the ages of six and 18. The article also stated that “23 per cent of all rural-based children are suspected to be forced into work, while in urban areas the figure is believed to be two per cent.”In fact, 23 per cent of Namibia’s rural-based children were working, while just over two per cent of all urban children were working.* Also in yesterday’s article headlined ‘Man arrested after wife’s death’, we reported that Matheus Willibald Ambunda (43) was released on bail of N$400 after being charged with murdering his wife.Ambunda was not granted bail and is still in Police custody.
