A Good Side Of Namibia

NAMIBIANS sometimes put their own country down, saying that things are better in Europe or in the USA.

I think some perspective is in order, especially when it comes to service levels and customer relations. As a tourist, having recently suffered a serious car breakdown in Windhoek (on a Friday evening on top of everything), I feared the worst since I was supposed to continue my journey north on Monday morning, However, to my big surprise, VW Autohaus in Windhoek under the skilful guidance of Quintin Thierauch, not only opened its workshop for me after hours, but also spent several hours of their mechanics’ precious weekend repairing my Golf for me to be able to continue my trip as planned. They even fixed some things at no charge! The car now purrs like a cat. This could not have happened in Europe, at least not without begging, twisting arms and at a hefty cost. I would like to extend my warmest thanks to Mr Thierauch and his team at VW Autohaus. Namibia is not a perfect country, but Windhoek residents (at least VW owners) can consider themselves very lucky in some respects. Peter KarasziStockholmSweden
