Social media is insane, no lie.
It has brought people together and ruined marriages. Go figure.
The latest trend in all things internet is a new term known as ‘down in the DMs’. For those who don’t know, the DM is an abbreviation for direct messaging, which is basically the form of an inbox on Twitter.
But you can twist it a little and refer to it as a message you receive on the internet (yes, Facebook friends, you are included too).
And in this said inbox, a couple of people have been receiving raunchy messages from other men/women who are clearly not their partners. These messages may or may not include explicit photographs and other incriminating material which could instantly get you divorced.
Ah, the internet.
This is why partners are demanding passwords and all those other details because trust is no longer a thing. People are going behind their partners’ backs, having affairs and the time of their lives, until the inboxes are revealed.
And both men and women love to try their luck this way. Who knows, it could start with an innocent “hi, how are you? ” and things can go downhill from there.
Temptation is everywhere.
You need to have a strong stomach for these things and learn how to deal with the messages that come your way.
But this has advanced to a whole other level.
Let me explain what the secrets of Snapchat are.
It’s a wonderful application that allows you to record your life in 10 second snippets which get deleted in 24 hours. Aside from that, it allows you to message people and guess what? These messages disappear in a matter of seconds. If you see someone you like, you can simply reply to their snap and start a conversation.
Cheaters one, faithful people, zero.
It basically means that there is no evidence and you can imagine how tempting this sounds for those who have been cheating. Your partner can’t prove that you’ve been messaging this person and you get off scot free. Trust me, I’m not introducing this behaviour, it has already been a thing.
Although it’s not all positive for cheaters because of the wonderful world of screenshots.
For Android users, it’s as simple as pressing the power button and the volume down key at the same time. Bam! The evidence has been saved.
All iPhone users have to do is press the sleep/wake button and the home button simultaneously and there we go.
You can’t get away with everything because where there’s a will, there’s a way.
And if your partner really wants to see what has been going down, all they have to do is take a look through your phone and it will all be over.
We need to stop promoting this cheating culture, guys. You’re giving yourself and your partner unnecessary stress. Sure, some people live for the thrill, but do you really want to live that way for the rest of your life or do you want to settle down with someone who will take you seriously?
Love is hard to come by and while some people have found it through the internet, avoid those who are in relationships and say that you just want to be friends. It’s not that hard to interpret intentions.
So let’s do ourselves a favour and keep it friendly on the internet, otherwise it can ruin your life.
And let’s not even get into the topic of blessers because that is a story for another day.
For now, keep your DMs clean and maybe your conscious will be too. You’ve got this. Good luck.
