Mobile Telecommunications Company (MTC) will be giving all their customers 82 free call minutes effective from Thursday until Sunday.
This is to honour president Hage Geingob who died at the age of 82.
MTC spokesperson Erasmus Nekundi said 82 symbolises the years on earth that Geingob lived.
“Geingob, the third president of Namibia, has left an indelible mark on the nation. His unwavering commitment to progress, unity and social justice continues to inspire generations. As we celebrate his contributions, we aim to honour his vision by connecting people across Namibia,” said Nekundi.
He added that each minute holds the potential for laughter, connection and shared memories.
“By offering these 82 national minutes, MTC encourages everyone to seize the opportunity to reach out, express love and reflect upon the visionary leadership of Geingob and his legacy as a leader of the Namibian people,” said Nekundi.
The minutes will be loaded onto customers mobile phones as from 22 February and are valid for use only within Namibia.
