Namibia’s premier international cycling event, the Tour de Windhoek, was officially launched on Thursday, with organisers promising an exciting and memorable edition of the race.
The 2026 Tour de Windhoek is scheduled to take place from 13 to 16 August, bringing together elite and emerging cyclists who will compete across challenging and scenic routes throughout the country.
Speaking at the launch, Pupkewitz Megabuild managing director, Martin Schoeman, confirmed the company’s continued commitment as title sponsor of the Tour de Windhoek 2026, reinforcing its support for the growth of Namibia’s flagship cycling event and the development of sport in the country.
“We are delighted to once again be the title sponsor of this iconic event as part of our commitment to corporate social responsibility. The Tour de Windhoek continues to grow as a leading platform for cycling excellence in Namibia, bringing together athletes, partners and communities through a shared passion for sport,” Schoeman said.
He said the sponsorship reflects Pupkewitz Megabuild’s broader vision of improving lives, building futures and contributing to a progressive and sustainable Namibia.
“The Tour de Windhoek’s success is made possible through the support of our strategic partners. Pupkewitz Megabuild remains the title sponsor, continuing its investment in sports development and community upliftment, while Pupkewitz Motors serves as the mobility partner, providing essential vehicle support for race logistics across all stages. Agrimark, as a fuel sponsor, powers the event’s operations and enables efficient movement along the race routes. Together, these partnerships play a vital role in delivering a professionally managed event and enhancing the experience for riders, organisers and spectators alike,” he said.
Meanwhile, executive director in the Ministry of Education, Innovation, Youth, Sport, Arts and Culture, Gerald Vries, reaffirmed government’s commitment to creating an enabling environment for sport to thrive in Namibia.
“Through strategic partnerships with national federations, sponsors and international bodies, government will continue to strengthen athlete development pathways, expand access to competitive opportunities and support programmes aimed at identifying and nurturing sporting talent from grassroots to elite level,” he said.
