ZIMBABWE A had a lead of 218 runs at the end of the second day of their match against Namibia at the Harare Sports Club yesterday.
Zimbabwe ended the day on 224 for nine wickets, having scored 222 in their first innings. Earlier yesterday Namibia were all out for 228 in their first innings On Monday Namibian captain Deon Kotze won the toss and put Zimbabwe in to bat.Matabeleland all-rounder Gavin Ewing was Zimbabwe’s top scorer with 58 followed by Trevor Gripper on 36 and wicketkeeper Alester Maregwede on 29.Deon Kotze was Namibia’s best bowler with four wickets for 33 runs.JB Burger captured two wickets for 23 runs.Gerrie Snyman also took two wickets for 68 runs in 15 overs.Burton van Rooi and Kolla Burger both took a wicket each.Namibia were 139/6 at stumps on Monday.Yesterday the Namibians went on to post a 6-run lead with a total of 228.JB Burger top scored with 44 runs, while Danie Keulder contributed 38.Namibia will play Zimbabwe A in three One Day Internationals later this week after the completion of their three-day match today.Namibia arrived in the country on Saturday as a replacement for Sri Lanka A who asked for the postponement of the January tour of Zimbabwe following a change in the Sri Lanka domestic cricket.* Additional reporting by The HeraldEarlier yesterday Namibia were all out for 228 in their first innings On Monday Namibian captain Deon Kotze won the toss and put Zimbabwe in to bat.
