Parents at Mafuta Combined School in the Zambezi region are boycotting classes, demanding the removal of a teacher accused of verbal abuse and incompetence.
They refused to allow about 804 pupils to attend classes on Tuesday until they receive a response from the regional education directorate on a petition they handed over on 8 July.
The parents allege that the teacher abuses pupils and parents verbally and is incompetent.
They are demanding that the teacher be transferred with immediate effect.
One of the aggrieved parents, Richard Kangumu, on Tuesday said they have not received any response from the directorate yet, and therefore thought it necessary to boycott lessons.
“Our demands have not been implemented, as the teacher is still coming to school every day. Our children will not go back to school until the directorate gives us a response in which it states that the teacher will be transferred,” he said.
