A Zambezi resident (36) tried to take his own life after allegedly beating his girlfriend to death at Katima Mulilo on Saturday.

The woman was identified as Nicolet Sililo (40).

Regional police spokesperson inspector Kisco Sitali confirmed the incident on Tuesday, saying the man fled the scene after the incident.

He said the man was arrested after jumping in front of a moving vehicle in an attempt to take his life.

“He is currently admitted to the Katima Mulilo District Hospital in police custody. He is in a stable condition, and police investigations continue,” Sitali said.

Sililo’s next of kin have been informed of her death.
