A man (37) died due to injuries he sustained after he was attacked by a bushbuck at his homestead in the Kongola area of the Zambezi region early on Wednesday morning.
The deceased was identified as Lusepani Castro Lutambo. His next of kin were informed of his death, police regional spokesperson Kisco Sitali told The Namibian on Wednesday.
According to Sitali, Lutambo encountered the bushbuck at around 06h00, when he went out to relieve himself in the nearby bushes.
“He allegedly grabbed the bushbuck on the neck, which resulted in him wrestling with it. The deceased’s sister came and found him holding the animal, and she told him to leave the animal, but he did not. During the process of wrestling, the deceased was stabbed twice with the horn on the neck. It’s alleged that the deceased intended to poach the animal, but he did not manage.”
Sitali said Lutambo’s body was transferred to the Katima Mulilo District Hospital mortuary for a post-mortem examination.
