A senior education officer (46) has been arrested for the illegal possession of four buffalo carcasses in the Zambezi region.
On Friday, control warden for the Wildlife Protection Services division Morgan Saisai told The Namibian they were in pursuit of the suspect for some time before they caught him red-handed.
When they intercepted the suspect in the Masokotwani area at around 20h00 on Wednesday, he had loaded two carcasses in the government vehicle he was transporting them in, said Saisai.
“We established that two other carcasses were left behind at the scene or were given to other people who helped him to strip the carcasses.”
The suspect is expected to appear in the Katima Mulilo Magistrate’s Court on Friday, he added.
