Zach On Reviving Rap And Hip-Hop

Sensational rap and hip-hop artist Zach was previously only known as a featuring artist and back-up singer for various musicians, such as Tk the Rapper. He worked quietly in the background to make a name for himself and build his reputation.

All this work recently culminated when he dropped his first mixtape titled ‘Mixtape Volume 1’, which he says aims to revive the rap and hip-hop genre in Namibia.

The 10-track mixtape has found Zach being more of an open book, and he says he is now ready to take his musical career to the next level by working tirelessly to penetrate the international market with quality songs and videos.

“This album is me sampling all kind of genres, while at the same time keeping the rap and hip-hop genre alive,” says Zach. He worked on the project with Dj Potpher, Tk the Rapper, ISparkstheMic, Kamby, Simionnare and Killa Bee.

The mixtape also contains other genres such as Afro-pop, hip-hop and house. Notable tracks on the album include ‘Gotta Keep It Moving’ which details the problems faced by many in Namibia and Africa in general such as xenophobia and financial problems, and ‘Kondobolo’, which speaks about strength and confidence.

Recently Zach shot a video for the romantic track ‘Low Thing’ in his home town of Ondangwa, with some clips shot in Windhoek. Acclaimed local videographer Maya Neto shot and directed the music video, which is gaining views on YouTube.

Watch out for his first full-length studio album, which Zach says will be released later this year.
