Youth empowerment workshop inspires

Elevate Edify Life Coaching hosted a youth empowerment workshop in Windhoek under the theme ‘Are You Future Proof? Finding Your Life Purpose’, leaving many young people feeling inspired.

The workshop, which took place at the Thuringerhof Hotel, attracted about 38 people between the ages of 18 and 25, who were empowered with information that would assist them in three areas of life: personal development, career, and life purpose.

The attendees were equipped with the skills to face their challenges head-on and to persevere, despite their circumstances, by finding their mission statement and geting grounded in their life purpose.

Elevate Edify Life Coaching co-founder Violette Mureko says forming partnerships with loving, caring and supportive people is important, which highlights the necessity of gatherings like these.

Mureko shared her life story, detailing her own challenges with self-confidence and self-esteem issues during her childhood.

“This was something most youths could relate to, as they themselves are battling sabotaging habits that stem from a lack of identity and self-acceptance,” says Mureko.

Workshop attendees were pleased with what they learned at the event.

“I had no expectations, but honestly, I realised that I really needed this information about finding my life purpose,” says Vehekua Keeja.

Another attendee, Immanuel Kaundje, says such events are rare, but very needed as more of this information should be made public knowledge.

“Everything I learned about was new, fresh and useful to my life,” he says.

Grant Olivier, a medical doctor invited to speak on mental health and spirituality, encouraged the youth to avoid drugs and alcohol to fill a void and to rather have clarity of purpose and faith to get through life.

“Understand that we are competing with no one and that we will thrive in the knowledge of God, our creator,” says Olivier.

With the next event set to take place in May, the organisers said they look forward to ensuring that young people develop successfully to become the future leaders they are meant to be.
