Today

‘Threads: Healing The Growing Pains of Girlhood’, a side-by-side exhibition with Pontsho Kemba and Rachel Sakeus, is currently ongoing at the Franco Namibian Cultural Centre till 29 August. Entry is free.

This Weekend

This Friday is the popular DHPS Basar in Windhoek. This year’s theme is ‘Digital Jungle’ and will run between 10h00 and 21h00 with food and drink stalls, fun and games, and live music. Entry is N$50 for adults and N$30 for children.

On Saturday, the National Theatre of Namibia is hosting auditions in its rehearsal room for stage actors for their production titled ‘Naked Spaces’, written by Rodney Gariseb. The play will be staged from 6 to 8 November. Arrive between 10h00 and 16h00 to shoot your shot!

Next Week

Next Thursday is ‘Havana Movie Night’ at the Frans Arts Centre. Entry is free for the 18h30 showing of Namibian documentary ‘Beyond The Goal Post’. Popcorn and drinks will be available.

On 30 August is the Namibian Lesbian Festival at the FNCC, under the theme ‘Stronger Together Through Unity, Solidarity, Power’. Join from 18h30 for creativity, connection, healing and sisterhood. Entry is free.

Next Saturday is Wezesha Vocational College’s ‘Creative Mini-Concert 3’, featuring performances by Moses, Ndenda, Dee’A, Annalise, Scarlet Gray, Yambo Jr, Elija and Marceline. Entry for the 18h00 live music show is N$100.

Also next Saturday is the ‘Future Founders Expo’ at Wanderers Sports Field. This event will include stalls by child entrepreneurs with cool business ideas, business seminars, quiz and game sessions and activities. Come through from 09h00.

On the evening of Saturday, 30 August, songstress Erna Chimu will have a live concert titled ‘Live in Song’ at the National Theatre of Namibia from 19h00. It will feature guest artists Waters and Sagarias Tsam. Tickets are N$250

Recurring

The National Theatre of Namibia is hosting the Stage Actors Training Lab 2025 every Tuesday and Thursday in the rehearsal room between 14h00 and 17h00. N$50-per-class tickets are only available via Webtickets. Participants must be 18 years of age.

Every week is ‘Tipsy Tuesday’ at the Rabbit Hole in Windhoek. Catch drink specials and music by DJs like IcearGrooves and MVSA from noon.

On Wednesdays you can grab two ice cold Hansa Draughts for N$50 at Vinyls Music and Arts Cafe.

Drop in on Quiz Night and flex your cerebral cortex at Piccolo Cafe and Lounge every Tuesday from 18h30. Entry is N$30 per person for groups of maximum six.

Wednesdays are ladies night at 18 Liliencron Street. All cocktails are half price.

On Wednesdays you can also grab two ice-cold beers from the tap for the price of one at Vinyls Music and Arts Cafe.

Beyond

From 27 to 30 August is the ‘Atusheni Community & SME Exhibition’ at Swakopmund outside the Mondesa Multipurpose Centre. There will be food and drink stalls and other entertainment. Entry is free from 10h00.

Get ready for The Vineyart on 29 August. This evening of music, wine, networking and art will take place at BBB Beergarten from 18h00 to 22h00. Entry is N$50 and includes a complimentary glass of wine.

There will be a Bible School on Wheels at the CTC auditorium every Tuesday in three week intervals. The next session, ‘Anyone Can Become A Great Motivator’, will continue between 2 and 23 September, and the last session, ‘How To Multiply Your Church, Business And Personal Productivity’ will be from 7 to 28 October. Learn, grow, develop, and equip yourself with various topics and courses between 18h00 and 21h00. Each course is N$400.
