Young Warriors finalise squad for 2024 Cosafa U20 Championship as they prepare for qualifiers

Young Warriors head coach James Britz on Tuesday finalised his squad for the upcoming 2024 Cosafa Under-20 Championship in Maputo, Mozambique.

The tournament will serve as a qualifier for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations of the same age group.

Namibia are drawn alongside Zambia and Angola in group B, following the withdrawal of Madagascar from the competition.

First up for the Young Warriors are neighbours Angola on 29 September, before concluding against Zambia on 1 September.

“The boys look good and in shape. Most of them are training at their clubs. This week we are just working on the style of play and getting the smaller details in order,” Britz said.

“We had a brief training camp last month and just monitored and evaluated the players that were scouted at the 2024 Nedbank Namibian Newspaper Cup,” he continued.

“The idea was to get in camp sooner, but that was not possible because most of the players are in school and university, and we can’t keep them out for a longer period of time. This week we trimmed down the squad, making it easier for the technical team to work with a smaller group.”
