Young talent shines at Voice of Namibia Kidz competition

PINEHAS NAKAZIKOAQUILA Claassen (14) from Swakopmund is the winner of this years Voice of Namibia Kidz, a singing competition for young people under the age of 20, held at the Windhoek Country Club Resort and Casino recently.

Tielman Neethling (12) came in second place, while Dannika Benade (11) was the third runner-up.

Claassens winning song Oceans, was originally composed by Hillsong United.

“My sincere gratitude goes out to each and everyone who made it possible for the competition to happen,” says Claassen, adding that she really appreciated the generous hospitality shown to all the contestants.

“I entered Voice Of Namibia Kidz for the fun and exposure,” she says.

Taking part in the competition increased her sense of self-confidence, she says.

“My self-belief has improved immensely at being crowned the winner for Voice of Namibia Kidz. We can all agree the overall layout of the competition was excellent to the smallest detail.”

As part of her prize, Claassen will be the guest singer at various shows to be hosted in the country.

Voice of Namibia Kidz was initiated by Alinda LuMar in 2018 to promote young talents in the country, and to give them a chance to start working on their dreams at an early age.

This year, 18 contestants took part in the competition.

“We went through to multimedia rounds, where the judges selected the contestants until we got to the top 10.

Then we went through to the final stage of the competition, a live show,” says LuMar.

Through the process, the youngsters had the opportunity to experience singing on a different level.

“I just hope people and corporates take my hands to make dreams come true for these young talents.”
