ONE drive through Windhoek and you realise just how poor people’s driving skills are.
In a mere 500m stretch you can encounter almost 10 different cases where road rules are broken. Blindspot observation is unheard of.Stop signs don’t exist and swinging in front of oncoming traffic is the most natural thing on earth to do.Every piece of tar that you can find is a parking/stopping or drop-off zone, period! It’s the Wild West where everybody does what they want.If I was a policeman I’d be writing out tickets raking in millions of dollars a year.C’mon people there’s big bucks to be made! But seriously, isn’t there a prevention method rather than a cure? How about Government making the learner’s and driver’s licence testing stricter? Maybe consult a few European governments on how they tackle it or even South Africa?
