WINDHOEK – The Governor of the Omaheke Region has called on women countrywide to refrain from being jealous of each other, because it prevents them from advancing in life.

Laura McLeod was addressing about 70 members of the Women’s Action for Development (WAD) at a gender training workshop last week. She accused women in Namibia of suffering from jealousy.That was why they were allegedly reluctant to share information and experiences that could help them to get ahead, she said.NAU rewards young farmers WINDHOEK – The Young Farmer of the Year award was given to Len de Jager during the Namibia Agricultural Union (NAU) annual general meeting held in Windhoek last week.De Jager (35) bought a farm in 1985 and farms with small stock and cattle.He also has a small abattoir on his farm.The Most Active Farm Association award went to the Dorsland Farm Association for the third time in a row while the Best Regional Union went to the Keetmanshoop Agricultural Union for the 10th consecutive year.The Agriwoman of the Year award went to the women working at the Ruth von Knebel-Doeberitz Clinic, which serves the farming community in the Gobabis area.Ostrich farming back on track KEETMANSHOOP – Communal ostrich farming in the Karas Region is back on track after the first batch of 810 day-old chicks was delivered on Wednesday to revive the ailing industry.Karas Ostriches, a subsidiary of the Karas Abattoir and Tannery (KAT), delivered the chicks to 27 communal ostrich farmers in the Berseba area.Each farmer received 30 chicks.The Agricultural Bank of Namibia has granted a loan of N$14 million to the commercial ostrich farmers.Forty-nine communal ostrich farmers are involved in the project.Ostrich farmers in Klein Vaalgras, Koichas and Ora!as will receive their chicks this week.- NampaShe accused women in Namibia of suffering from jealousy.That was why they were allegedly reluctant to share information and experiences that could help them to get ahead, she said.
