A woman (20) has been arrested for attempted murder and arson after she allegedly set fire to a hut her friend was sleeping in with her child.
The alleged incident happened on Monday morning at Ohameenya village in Ohangwena region.
According to police crime investigations coordinator deputy commissioner Zacharias Amakali, the two had reportedly been squabbling over rumours that the suspect was in a relationship with the victim’s boyfriend.
“The suspect set the victim’s hut on fire while she was sleeping with her son inside but they managed to escape. The hut was completely burnt to ashes,” said Amakali.
The suspect was arrested and is set to appear in the Eenhana Magistrate’s Court on Thursday.
