Woman drowns in Cuvelai River

A 31-year-old woman from Oshakati apparently committed suicide by jumping into the Cuvelai River in Oshakati on Sunday night.

Police Chief Inspector Rauha Amwele has identified the woman as Kavare Mondista. A relative of Mondista told The Namibian that she and her husband had been arguing on Sunday night while walking near the river.When they reached the bridge, Mondista jumped in, according to her husband.”It was around 22h00, dark, and her husband could do nothing to rescue her.All he could do is to go to the Police and report the incident.The Police could also do nothing that night and had to wait until the next morning, Monday,” the relative said.According to Chief Inspector Amwele, the Police found Mondista’s body in the water near the bridge on Monday afternoon.A relative of Mondista told The Namibian that she and her husband had been arguing on Sunday night while walking near the river.When they reached the bridge, Mondista jumped in, according to her husband.”It was around 22h00, dark, and her husband could do nothing to rescue her.All he could do is to go to the Police and report the incident.The Police could also do nothing that night and had to wait until the next morning, Monday,” the relative said.According to Chief Inspector Amwele, the Police found Mondista’s body in the water near the bridge on Monday afternoon.
