A WOMAN, 39 years of age, who is accused of killing a 16-year-old boy in December 2018, has denied committing the crime.
“I have no link to the death of Johannes Nghidengwa. Johannes had a friend who is in the police cells, I want you to call him,” Hilde Kalola said when she made her first appearance in the Ohangwena Magistrate’s Court yesterday.
She could not say much as she was cut short by magistrate August Simon, who told her that it was not yet her trial.
Kalola is facing charges of murder and obstruction of justice. She is remanded in custody while her case was postponed to 19 May for further investigations to be done.
Kalola is accused of killing Johannes Nghilifavali Nghidengwa after she allegedly tied him with a rope and beat him repeatedly with an electrical cable over missing money amounting to N$650, until he died.
After beating Nghidengwa, Kalola allegedly transported his body in a wheelchair and buried it in a grave dug by young boys from her home.
Kalola allegedly placed the corpse in the grave first before she put in empty tins. She allegedly told family members that the boy was at a farm.
The incident happened at Okakwa village in the Ohangwena region.
The boy’s skeletal remains were discovered only on Thursday last week by his mother, who later notified the police.
