Woman denies evicting RDP son

A WOMAN accused by her son of having evicted him from her homestead because he was a Rally for Democracy and Progress (RDP) supporter has denied the allegation.

Rosalia Gideon, a widow from Onyoka village in the Oshikoto Region, has denied that she evicted her son Sackeus Inyemba (32) and his belongings from her homestead because of his political affiliation. Gideon told The Namibian that her son decided on his own to leave the homestead. ‘He is my first-born, I love him too much and he is to marry next month and we are busy preparing his wedding. How can I chase him out of the house his father left for us when he died two years ago?’Sackeus Inyemba is the RDP’s Deputy Secretary in the Oshikoto Region and works for the International University of Management’s Ongwediva branch.Inyemba this week informed the media that his mother, who is a Swapo supporter, evicted him, along with all his belongings, from her house at Onyoka. He also said that his mother told him that his wedding, planned for August 29 this year, would not been held at her house. Rosalia Gideon denied this, saying: ‘This is not true. How can I chase my own son, own child, from my house where he was born? We are even now busy with his sisters and brothers organising his wedding, which is a proud moment for all of us in the family,’ she said. ‘He went out himself because of his own politics, and if he wants to come back, he is always welcome.’Inyemba also accused Omutele Constituency Councillor Sackey Nangula of having instigated his mother to evict him.Sackey Nangula has denied the allegations, saying: ‘I never did that. How can I divide people, family members, a son from his mother or a mother from her son? I never do or did so.’oswald@namibian.com.na
