Windhoek starts new billing system

The City of Windhoek today implemented a new billing system in order to improve operational and systems efficiency.

The new system is part of the city’s new Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system, which consists of the e-Venus Financial Management system and replaced the old Municipal Services system. Speaking during a media briefing on Monday, City of Windhoek’s Strategic Executive for Finance, Roger Gertze said these changes will be reflected on a new-look municipal bill, effective from October 2008.”This follows the testing period that took longer than anticipated as the two systems needed to run parallel during the testing period in line with best practices,” he said. The City of Windhoek once again assured its clients that the ultimate result of this exercise will be an improved management information system and service delivery in terms of improved billing services. One of the first customers to be served on the new system, Samuel Kambonge, said the system is fast, adding:”You don’t need to wait for a long time, the service is faster than before.”- Nampa Polytechnic gets UCT fillip * Jonathan Foster-Pedley, Senior Lecturer at the University of Cape Town Graduate School of Business, has been appointed a Visiting Professor in entrepreneurship, innovation and creativity at the Polytechnic of Namibia. The Polytechnic – soon to become the Namibian University of Science and Technology – is driven by the imperatives of leadership, technology, entrepreneurship and innovation. The Polytechnic has embarked on initiatives to aggressively advance these imperatives across the institution. The new position will see Foster-Pedley advise on strengthening the institutional capacity – faculty, staff and students – in leadership, technology, entrepreneurship and innovation. He will also assist with business incubation, community and government projects and applied research.”This is a great opportunity for me personally,” he said.Staff ReporterSpeaking during a media briefing on Monday, City of Windhoek’s Strategic Executive for Finance, Roger Gertze said these changes will be reflected on a new-look municipal bill, effective from October 2008.”This follows the testing period that took longer than anticipated as the two systems needed to run parallel during the testing period in line with best practices,” he said. He will also assist with business incubation, community and government projects and applied research.”This is a great opportunity for me personally,” he said.Staff Reporter
