WINDHOEK Gymnasium and Windhoek Afrikaanse Privaat Skool (WAP) will contest the final of the Cricket Namibia u19 T20 School competition at the United Cricket Ground on Friday.
Eight schools competed in the 2019 T20 league namely WAP, Edugate, Jan Mohr, Tsumeb Gymnasium, Windhoek Gymnasium, WHS, Agri-College and Gobabis Gymnasium.
In the semifinals, Windhoek Gymnasium beat Gobabis Gymnasium, while WAP got the better of WHS in a tight encounter. Both teams have been undefeated in the T20 league.
Windhoek Gymnasium have dominated the competition in recent years, winning the title for the past five years in a row, while WAP have never won it, although they were the losing finalists in 2011 and 2014.
Both teams have several national u19 players in their ranks with Windhoek Gymnasium including the captain Jan Izak de Villiers, Ramon Wilmot, Altus Opperman and Mel Theunissen; and WAP, their captain Nicol Loftie-Eaton and JC Balt.
The match will start at 14h30.
