Discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity is not banned in Namibia, and households headed by same-sex couples are not eligible for the same legal protection available to opposite-sex couples.

It is true that throughout history, attacking minority groups has been a sign of distracting from real issues.

It is also important to note that banning same-sex marriage does not solve the real issues Namibia is faced with.

Instead, it only serves to further marginalise and discriminate against the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex and others community.

Furthermore, which minority is going to be next?
