When Traffic Doesn’t Flow

When Traffic Doesn’t Flow

PLEASE allow me space in your newspaper to air my concerns regarding the traffic flow at the crossing between Hochland Road (Game road) and Goshawk Road in Hochland Park.

For us coming from the centre of the town (East; Game) and wanting to turn into Hochland Park, this robot and the traffic flow from Pioneerspark is a real headache. Even when we want to exit Hochland Park to town (in the direction of Game), it remains a headache with oncoming traffic from the direction of Pioneerspark.Remember that these roads and the crossing are used by thousands of people staying in other areas of Windhoek. It is and remains one of the main access and exit roads to and from the city centre.Another reason for this situation is because of the Emma Hoogenhout Primary School in Hochland Park where many children from in and around Windhoek are being transported to and from. This is mainly a problem during the morning (when we need to take our children to school and adults going to work), during the lunch hour (when we need to drop children again and go back to work) and late afternoon (when we drive home from work).People have now started to turn left towards the vendor stalls, making u-turns in order to be able to access Hochland Park from the south.I am sure this is unnecessary anda cause for concern, as people are starting to improvise by breaking traffic rules.I (and I’m sure many other road users) call on the Windhoek Municipality’s Traffic Department to please ease our frustrations and install a three-way robot (for those travelling from the east and wanting to turn into Hochland Park) at this robot. It will give some kind of turn-off advantage for the people turning-off into Hochland Park (from East) during the times mentioned above. At the same time it will also allow people to exit Hochland Park more easily, especially those driving towards the direction of Game, also driving to drop of kids at other schools and going to work.I trust that soon we will see an upgrading of this robot and an improvement in the traffic flow.Road User Via e-mailEven when we want to exit Hochland Park to town (in the direction of Game), it remains a headache with oncoming traffic from the direction of Pioneerspark.Remember that these roads and the crossing are used by thousands of people staying in other areas of Windhoek. At the same time it will also allow people to exit Hochland Park more easily, especially those driving towards the direction of Game, also driving to drop of kids at other schools and going to work.I trust that soon we will see an upgrading of this robot and an improvement in the traffic flow.Road User Via e-mail
