What to watch this March

March’s television lineup delivers a mix of reality competition, dystopian drama, legal intrigue and high-stakes thrillers, with several major titles returning to screens.

‘Survivor 50’ on M-Net
The long-running reality competition marks its 50th season with a special edition titled ‘In the Hands of the Fans’. The milestone season introduces celebrity appearances and, for the first time, fan-voted game mechanics, as 24 returning contestants compete for the title of sole survivor.
The premiere airs on 15 March at 18h00 on M-Net, opening with a three-hour episode. Subsequent instalments will run for 90 minutes.

‘Paradise’ season two on Disney+
The second season of ‘Paradise’ debuted on 23 February, continuing its dystopian storyline set in a world destabilised by climate disaster. The series follows Secret Service agent Xavier Collins, played by Sterling K Brown, as he navigates shifting loyalties and moral dilemmas in a fractured society.
While the first season established the show’s tense atmosphere, the new instalment deepens its emotional stakes, exploring themes of survival, trust and consequence. Returning cast members are joined by Shailene Woodley, Thomas Doherty and Michael McGrady.

‘Love, Law and
Betrayal’ season two
South African legal drama ‘Love, Law and Betrayal’ returns with a renewed focus on the powerful Gumede family, portrayed by Nimrod Nkosi and Pearl Modiadie. The series centres on internal conflict threatening the future of their law firm, Gumede & Associates.
Produced by Izwi Multimedia and created by executive producer Thandi Ramathesele, the show is set between Thembisa and Sandton. New additions to the cast include Shannon Esra as crossover lawyer Sandra Stein, Sparky Xulu as social justice attorney Sakhile Nxusa and Katlego Lebogang as criminal lawyer Bakang Mokgotso. The series is directed by Nthabiseng Tau, alongside South African Film and Television Awards winners Nthabiseng Mokoena and Christo Davids.

‘Hijack’ season two on Apple TV+
The second season of ‘Hijack’, starring and executive produced by Idris Elba, shifts the action to a Berlin underground train seized by hijackers. Elba reprises his role as Sam Nelson, caught at the centre of a crisis where each decision carries life-or-death consequences.
The new season reunites returning cast members including Christine Adams, Max Beesley and Archie Panjabi. Created by George Kay and Jim Field Smith, the thriller continues to release new episodes weekly, with fresh instalments streaming every Wednesday on Apple TV+.
