We are mourning our friend and leader – Ondonga king

GOOD TIMES … Ondonga Traditional Authority Omukwanilwa Fillemon Nangolo Shuumbwa and president Hage Geingob.

The head of the Ondonga Traditional Authority, Omukwanilwa Fillemon Shuumbwa  Nangolo, says the entire Ondonga community is shattered by the death of president Hage Geingob.

Shuumbwa said yesterday that Geingob was a good friend of the Aadonga community and was regarded as a son of King Kauluma Elifas whom the previous Ondonga king groomed into leadership.

He said Geingob was given a role to lead the entire community of the Oshikoto area under the Ondonga Traditional Authority as a traditional councillor or elenga during Elifas’ tenure until his death.

“We are mourning our dear friend and our mighty president,” Shuumbwa said.

“We are all saddened by his untimely death because he was so close to us. It is not easy to lose someone who meant so much to everyone. We will always remember his voice, his leadership skills and his kind gestures, thus we will always treasure his good memories. We have accepted it all and we will continue to console one another during this dark period,” he said.

Shuumbwa appealed for peace and unity to prevail during the mourning period, saying that the nation should accept any changes that will be done in the government and respect those entrusted to lead the nation and respect the Constitution.

“May we all remain united as we mourn our president and remain calm as we await information pertaining to the burial arrangements. We must respect the peace that we have in the country, because as we all know it did not come on a silver platter.

“I wish madam Monica Geingos, the children and the entire bereaved family strength and comfort as they mourn his excellency president Geingob. May we all be comforted in the Lord’s prayers,” he said.
