Warriors coaching job applicants increase to ten

NAMIBIA’S football technical director Seth Boois yesterday confirmed that at least ten applications have been received for the coaching position of the Brave Warriors, which was advertised last month.

The closing date for the applications for Namibia’s top coaching job is February 28. Boois said the Namibia Football Association (NFA) had also sent advertisements of the job to various football associations including South Africa (South African Football Association, (Safa), Germany (German Fussball Bund) and England (Football Association).”At this stage the applications have really picked up and we are hoping to have at least more than 15 in the next week or so.There is a lot of interest from the foreign countries and we want to have as many applications as possible to eventually have the best coach for the country.”Boois was not willing to reveal any names, but said he expected the names to be announced after the list had been communicated to the executive committee.Boois, a former junior and senior national team coach, was appointed as the technical director of Namibian football last year and is responsible for co-ordinating all football activities in the country. His office is currently spearheading the recruitment of the head coach for the national team, which has been dormant for the past ten months. The new coach will have an assistant, who needs to be chosen immediately after his appointment.According to sources at the NFA, the football bosses would prefer to appoint a local coach to the assistant’s position.Namibia is scheduled to play in a mini-tournament of the Cosafa Castle Cup against Seychelles and Zambia in Windhoek in July.Namibia has failed at the first hurdle of the tournament three times in a row, but twice ended in the final stages of the 10-year-old tournament.Boois said the Namibia Football Association (NFA) had also sent advertisements of the job to various football associations including South Africa (South African Football Association, (Safa), Germany (German Fussball Bund) and England (Football Association).”At this stage the applications have really picked up and we are hoping to have at least more than 15 in the next week or so.There is a lot of interest from the foreign countries and we want to have as many applications as possible to eventually have the best coach for the country.”Boois was not willing to reveal any names, but said he expected the names to be announced after the list had been communicated to the executive committee.Boois, a former junior and senior national team coach, was appointed as the technical director of Namibian football last year and is responsible for co-ordinating all football activities in the country. His office is currently spearheading the recruitment of the head coach for the national team, which has been dormant for the past ten months. The new coach will have an assistant, who needs to be chosen immediately after his appointment.According to sources at the NFA, the football bosses would prefer to appoint a local coach to the assistant’s position.Namibia is scheduled to play in a mini-tournament of the Cosafa Castle Cup against Seychelles and Zambia in Windhoek in July.Namibia has failed at the first hurdle of the tournament three times in a row, but twice ended in the final stages of the 10-year-old tournament.
