A man (28) at Walvis Bay spent his birthday with the elderly at the Kuisebmond Old Age Home on Thursday.
Pius Samuel said it was a gesture to give back to the elderly who raised the younger generation.
Samuel invited some friends to clean at the home and pamper the elderly.
The 28 friends cleaned up the home, treated the elderly to manicures, pedicures, massages and hair cuts before serving them lunch.
“Charity has always been a huge part of my life, especially looking after the needy and vulnerable people. Our old people are abandoned and they’re very lonely. It is, therefore, important for the youth to look after the elderly and show them love.”
Samuel said that he also noticed that young people, especially men, concentrate on impressing women and fail to take care of their parents.
He said that birthdays are not there to always receive, but also to give thanks for life.
