A WOMAN (51) from Walvis Bay has been defrauded of more than N$770 000 in an internet banking scam.
This was confirmed by chief police inspector Elifas Kuwinga on Thursday.
He said the incident took place on Monday afternoon.
“It is alleged that the suspect unlawfully and intentionally contacted the complainant while misrepresenting Bank Windhoek to obtain confidential banking details, which were then used to defraud her,” Kuwinga said.
No arrest has been made, and the funds have not been recovered.
Police investigations continue.
