VTC’s ‘No-Go’

VTC’s ‘No-Go’

Certificates Allow me a space in your newspaper.I would like to air my view to the Minister of Education.

My concern is about the issue of the Vocational Training Centre (VTC). They had a study programme of four years in which you obtained a diploma. Now the VTC has changed from four years to three years, for a certificate.I wonder if there is a difference between colleges, Polytechnic and UNAM students who are doing three years but they are obtaining diplomas. Are the VTCs not higher institutions? The main problem is once you complete your three-year course with your certificate and apply to any company, there is no way you will be considered. Why? Because those preferred have N3 or N4 diplomas. So, if VTC has changed completely from diplomas, why can’t it change again from three years to six months and be like COSDEC and Kayec? Because to study for thee years for a ‘certificate’ is a waste of time.Concerned Trainee WVTC WindhoekThey had a study programme of four years in which you obtained a diploma. Now the VTC has changed from four years to three years, for a certificate.I wonder if there is a difference between colleges, Polytechnic and UNAM students who are doing three years but they are obtaining diplomas. Are the VTCs not higher institutions?
