Vocational Centres Are Key

Vocational Centres Are Key

FIRST of all, I should indicate that, I am one of many non-Swapo Namibians who highly appreciate what Dr Iyambo and his team are doing for the education of this nation.

It feels great to work in your Ministry. ‘To make a long story short, I want to express my feelings about the education of our children. They are as follows: ‘1. Increase vocational training centres in the country.’Dismantle that thing called ‘Namcol’ and create a fully staffed correspondence academy’Subjects should be either on ‘ordinary’ or ‘high’ level. This issue of core vs extended is confusing. It is also making our learners lazy.Strongly consider a ‘specific’ alternative to corporal punishment. It does not help talking of ‘discipline from within’ if it is not working for our system.I should make it clear that I do not support beating.’ Finally, I wish that the Minister will keep politics out of the education system. ‘God bless Namibia’.Simon N Via e-mail
